The world's probably most famous car brand has submitted a patent application, where the ideas behind it will change cars forever.
It may soon be completely over with separate developments of right- and left-hand drive cars. At least at Ferrari in Maranello.
The brand's engineers have come up with an idea that makes the car's cockpit 'floating'. Moveable in other words.
It is the American media CarBuzz that writes that they have found Ferrari's drawings at the American patent office.
In all its simplicity – behind the otherwise very complicated technical drawings – Ferrari explains about a system that can move the driver around the cabin. Everything from the seat to the steering wheel to instruments and pedals is included.

Thus, it will be unnecessary for Ferrari to take into account the development of right- and left-hand drive cars. It will also be possible for the driver to sit directly in the middle of the car.
Preserved, we have seen to a centrally located feeder. Both in the McLaren F1 and the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50.
But in none of those cars does the driver have the opportunity to change position at will, so to speak. It will now – perhaps – be possible in future models from Ferrari.
Just because Ferrari takes the patent does not mean that the Italians intend to do more with it. But now the people from Maranello have proven that they can.
