Motorists are not as keen on equipment as the car brands think

Car brands are adding more and more equipment to their models. But now a survey shows that motorists are not so fussed about it.

Modern cars contain lots of equipment. But perhaps there is too much, because motorists do not use the entire range of equipment in their choir uniforms.

A survey prepared by AutoPacific shows that motorists are actually not that enthusiastic about the large range of technology. At least not as excited as the automakers might assume.

AutoPacific asked 11,700 car owners about their views on technology in new cars. Only 21 percent answered that it is important to them that the front seat passenger has his own screen.

Even fewer, namely only 18 percent, said that it is important for them to be able to buy additional equipment directly from the car's infotainment system, especially if they also have to pay for the data traffic in the car.

However, that number has increased. In 2022, only 10 percent answered in a similar survey that they appreciated the possibility of buying additional equipment in this way.

Finally, only 17 percent of drivers stated that they find it important that their cars are equipped with screens that warn pedestrians or other cars, especially if it costs the car 500 dollars – equivalent to approx. DKK 3,400 – more expensive.

A troubled car brand seems to have already realized the consequences. In their attempt to find savings of DKK 14 billion, several functions risk being removed.Read more about it here .
