120-year-old car brand thinks it can beat Tesla

At Ford, which was able to celebrate its 120th anniversary last year, it is now trying to hijack Tesla's customers.

Ford is a car brand in crisis. The American brand must save up to 2 billion dollars, equivalent to 14 billion kroner.

Still, Ford now believes it can fight Tesla. In any case, the brand's managing director Jim Farley announces that Ford will now focus on cheaper electric cars to get a bigger share of the market.

CNN writes that.

And not only must Ford be able to compete with Tesla. They will also go for the often even cheaper alternatives from China, it says.

– We developed a super 'Skunk Works' team to create a low-cost electric car platform. It was a small group, some of the best EV engineers in the world, and it was separate from Ford's mothership, says the director.

Ford's move on the electric car front comes after it has emerged that the brand's customers do not want to pay more for an electric car with a Ford logo.

Very little is otherwise publicly known about the working group that is currently concentrating on developing cheaper electric cars. But it has emerged that one of the members is Alan Clarke, who previously worked for Tesla for 12 years.
