Kia in the USA is now recalling over 1,000 electric cars because the drive shafts cannot withstand the torque in the electric motors.
Kia in the US has yet another recall. Recently, it involved up to100,000 cars where parts of the roof flew off.
This time it is something more serious but for far fewer cars. In fact, Kia makes do with 1,234 by order of the American traffic safety authorities.
This is written by USA Today .
It turns out that in several cases Kia has not ensured that the drive axles in certain cars have received the correct heat treatment when the cars were assembled.

The US authorities state that it concerns 1,039 copies of the Kia EV6, while the rest are Niro models built between last year and now.
In the smallest of the cars – Niro – it turns out that the left drive shaft breaks under impact. On the larger EV6, it is the drive shaft for the rear electric motor that can fail.
So it's not exactly something that Kia can handle with an update. From 29 March, the owners will then also be notified that they must visit a branded workshop and have the defective part replaced. Naturally at the car brand's expense.
