Nissan Interstar is Van of the Year in Denmark 2025

The votes have been counted; the sister vehicles Nissan Interstar and Renault Master are the Van of the Year in Denmark 2025.

The votes have been counted, and the honorary title of Van of the Year 2025 goes to the Nissan Interstar and Renault Master.

The two have jointly created a large, spacious van that is offered at competitive prices with both a diesel engine and an electric motor.

There wasn't really much doubt. The Nissan Interstar and Renault Master received top marks from four out of seven jury members in the final for Van of the Year 2025.

The two models from Renault and Nissan are technically identical, and therefore they count as one in the scoring and received a total of 32 points.

Interstar and Master are available with either diesel or electric power – the latter with a range of up to 405 kilometers.

The cars have large cargo spaces and are sold at competitive prices, and as such, the nomination for Van of the Year 2025 is fully deserved.

In second place comes another “twin pair”; Ford Transit Custom and Volkswagen Transporter.

The two models were once fierce rivals, but today both cars are developed by Ford. The Transit Custom and Transporter were awarded 25 points thanks to a nice cabin, sharp driving characteristics and the option of choosing between diesel and electric power.

In third place we find the Toyota Proace Max, which received 13 points. The model is an old favorite, which in its basic form can be traced back to 2006.

But in Toyota's current version, it offers lots of updates, including the electric version getting a large 110 kWh battery.

Thanks to a total weight of 4.25 tons, the electric version can load up to 1,500 kilograms and still be driven with a regular driving license.

The Van of the Year award is given every year, as far as possible. The Danish Motor Journalists Association is behind the honorary title, which is awarded across qualifications such as safety, innovation, practical design and price.

This year, 12 different models from nine different car brands participated, divided between electric and diesel, and a single gasoline-powered plug-in hybrid was also included.

Before the nomination, all vehicles were tested on country roads and had the opportunity to test with variously loaded trailers. All vans also had to be fully loaded minus 200 kilos.
