Volkswagen ID.7 drops 67,000 kroner in price

Volkswagen is now trying to boost sales of the electric Passat, ID.7, by reducing the price by a whopping 67,000 kroner in the Netherlands.

Tesla has had a nightmare start to 2025, and several of its competitors are now trying to take advantage of this. Among them is Volkswagen, which is now reducing the price of the ID.7 by 67,000 kroner.

In March, it overthrew the Germans Tesla after a crazy increase of 180 percent, and now Volkswagen is trying to hold on to the lead with a round of price cuts.

In the Netherlands, Volkswagen is experimenting with a number of so-called 'Limited Edition' versions of the ID.3, ID.4 and ID.7. Volkswagen. The cheapest will be the ID.7, which will drop by almost 70,000 kroner.

This is what Auto Week writes.

This is the second time in a relatively short period of time that Volkswagen has attempted to outrun its competitors by lowering prices.

As recently as February, the ID.4 was priced at a whopping 140,000 kroner in another market. Read more about it here.

Back in the Netherlands, the new prices mean that the ID.7 starts at a price of 373,000 kroner. In comparison, the same car here costs from 441,000 kroner.

Which means that there is actually a tax on the car. Something that car brands in Denmark do a lot to avoid by keeping prices at or just below the tax limit.

For now, Volkswagen in Denmark does not have the same offers as in the Netherlands. However, there is much evidence that the government does not want to increase the tax on electric cars either.

According to Tax Minister Rasmus Stoklund, electric cars should be public property. Even though the latest agreement on car taxes states that there must be no tax rebates on electric cars by 2035 at the latest.

Furthermore, environmental and economic expert Lars Gårn Hansen believes that the government may well introduce the taxes much earlier than planned.

– Sales of electric cars in Denmark are going so well that taxes on electric cars can be raised earlier than planned, he says in an interview with the Althing.

– This makes it possible to return to uniform taxes on electric and fossil vehicles sooner than planned.
