The first Tesla Model Y Juniper has already been smashed

Traffic accidents happen. Even for brand new cars. Tesla sent the first facelifted Model Y onto the streets in early March, now the first one has been smashed.

The first Tesla Model Y Juniper of model year 2026 has already been smashed.

The electric car, which Tesla launched in early March 2025, is now at a scrapyard in Houston, Texas, where it is up for sale via Copart .

It is remarkable that such a new car model has already ended up as a total loss only a short time after the first deliveries took place.

The damage to the Tesla is significant, and judging from the pictures, the passenger has been hit the hardest. At least that's on the side where the car was hit by something or someone.

That side of the car appears badly damaged after the accident, while the driver's side probably escaped the accident more unscathed. At least that's what it looks like.

New Tesla Model Y smashed after just a few kilometers

What exactly happened is unknown, but it is unlikely that the car can be rebuilt to a condition where it will be safe to send back onto the road.

The front fender has taken the most beating. Just like the front door has taken a severe beating, and the side mirror has been torn off.

Inside the cabin, the situation looks somewhat different. Interestingly enough, the airbags do not appear to have deployed in the accident.

The cabin itself appears relatively intact, although it needs a thorough cleaning. The infotainment system still works and the car can be started.

The system reveals that the car only has a short 317 kilometers. This indicates that the specific Tesla Model Y was only in use for a very short time before the accident.

The car is currently for sale at Copart in Houston, Texas. Despite the extensive damage, the car is still registered. But it's probably just a matter of time before that changes.

The big question now is whether anyone will take on the task of repairing the heavily damaged Tesla Model Y.
