Car brand is tired of EU politicians: You do nothing!

At the British car brand Ineos, they are thoroughly fed up with EU politicians: Trump introduced tariffs because the EU does nothing, says the criticism.

The British car brand isn't just tired of EU politicians. The management is downright furious.

This is because, according to Ineos, Donald Trump has been able to impose a 25 percent tariff on all cars imported into the United States.

And this without the EU wanting to do anything or at least respond. And the rules, which come into force on April 3rd this year, are so provoking that Ineos, which has just restarted its production after a painful bankruptcy, is infuriating. Read more about it here .

– This is what comes out of things when politicians sit on their hands.

– We are furious that the tariff threat from the US has been known for so long and that the EU has done nothing, says a press release from the British brand.

Ineos' sharp statement comes against a somewhat ironic backdrop, however. The brand's founder Jim Ratcliffe was one of the most prominent advocates of Brexit, meaning that England should leave the EU. Which actually happened.

And now he complains that the EU is doing nothing for him, even though Ineos will probably make it look like the entire European car industry is being left behind.

Ineos sells several models in the US. And although management claims that it has long been preparing for a tariff wall from the country's government, there is a limit to how much it can and will do for customers on the other side of the Atlantic.

– There are limitations on what we can do to protect our American customers from price increases, it says .

– As a growing EU-based car brand, we are vulnerable to tariffs and we need our politicians to support our business, our jobs and our economies.

– We need urgent and direct political intervention when it comes to customs. We will provide all the support we can to our political leaders so that the playing field can be kept fair for all.
