79 percent of Danes' cars will still be driving in 2030

In 2030, 79 percent of the cars that Danes own today will still be driving on our roads. This is shown by a new calculation from Statistics Denmark.

At the beginning of 2025, there will be 2.86 million passenger cars on Danish roads.

And although there are now less than 2.5 million pure fossil cars in Denmark, the vast majority of them will still be on the roads in 2030.

This is shown by a calculation from Statistics Denmark .

Specifically, 2.26 million of the cars driving around today will also be on the roads in 2030. Another thing is that more newer and older cars will actually disappear from the roads.

This means that a more than five-year-old picture has been reversed, with more cars under one year old being taken off the roads than before.

According to Statistics Denmark, this may be because a good portion of the cars disappearing from the roads today are leased cars that operate on shorter contracts.

At the same time, the trend has been towards longer and longer intervals between Danes saying goodbye to cars that are older than 10 years.

This development is also related to the fact that Danes' cars have generally become older. In fact, a full 0.2 years in the past 365 days. Read more about it here .
