Car giant admits defects in electric cars – owners will receive compensation

Things are going well for Stellantis at the moment. And now a number of car owners are due for compensation because their electric cars are full of faults.

The Stellantis Group acknowledges defects in some of its electric cars.

The errors have resulted in damaged chargers. Therefore, owners of the affected cars can now apply for compensation.

However, it remains uncertain whether the compensation scheme also applies in Denmark.

– If the customer has paid for the replacement of the built-in charger, the so-called onboard charger, at a brand repair shop before April 2021 and believes that he or she is entitled to compensation, the customer can contact customer service at the brand in question.

– Then the cases will be assessed individually, says Stellantis in a response to the Dutch consumer program Radar .

The error is also a problem in Denmark

Owners of electric cars from Stellantis, including models from Opel, Fiat and Peugeot as well as Toyota's Proace models, which are built on the same technology, have experienced charging problems shortly after delivery.

The problem was highlighted in the Dutch consumer program "Radar", which corresponds to the Danish program Kontant on DR.

In the Dutch program, several car owners told about their experiences with defective chargers and how they had had to pay for repairs out of their own pocket.

Stellantis has now chosen to offer compensation to affected car owners who have paid for repairs to the charger before April 2021.

The group emphasizes, however, that each case will be assessed individually. It is not yet clear whether the compensation scheme also includes electric cars in Denmark.

The problems experienced by car owners have raised concerns about the quality of Stellantis electric cars. The Dutch are not the only ones criticizing Stellantis for the problematic chargers.

Here in Denmark, Anders Berner, behind the YouTube channel of the same name, has focused on the problem with chargers. They – that is, chargers – are not just easy to replace, and they cost a fortune to buy new.

Dutch owners of these cars can seek compensation:
