Tesla charges 322,000 kroner for car that doesn't exist

Tesla still charges a pre-order fee of DKK 322,000 for the Roadster, which the brand has now promised its customers for 8 years.

It's been eight years since Tesla promised its customers a new Roadster.

But time and again, the car, which was supposed to be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, has been postponed.

Yet Tesla is still accepting pre-orders for the car in Denmark and several other countries. In Denmark, the fee for such a thing runs up to 322,000 kroner.

And although Tesla has now admitted that 'other cars are more important' than a new Roadster, the ordering window is still open.

According to Musk, the delay is a result of the Roadster being given a lower priority compared to many other projects Tesla is working on, cars that are more important to the brand's overall goal of a future with self-driving cars.

There are still few details out about what the final version of the Roadster will look like, but it is expected that the design will be similar to the concept from 2017.

But as Tesla has introduced new design elements like their “Cyber” style, the production car could also end up significantly different from the concept.

However, some drivers are so tired of waiting for a new Roadster that they've taken matters into their own hands. One of them is David Andreyev, who built the car out of a Model 3. Read more about it here .

That being said, do you think a new Roadster will be able to lure customers into the store? Share your opinion with us on Facebook.
