Uber competitor acquires Danish car company to invest in Denmark

Uber competitor Bolt is now coming to Denmark. It is doing so through the acquisition of taxi company Viggo. The acquisition is expected to generate investments.

Uber competitor Bolt, which operates in more than 50 countries and 600 cities, is now coming to Denmark.

The company writes this in a press release .

The entry onto the Danish asphalt takes place through the acquisition of the taxi company Viggo, which was founded in 2019.

– Becoming part of Bolt gives us the opportunity to continue and expand our original mission for the benefit of both drivers and passengers.

– With new technology, increased demand and a continued commitment to quality, we stand even stronger together with Bolt, says Kenneth Herschel, director of Viggo.

Wanted 300 Fisker Ocean for Denmark – got one

Here at home, Viggo is probably best known for being the one who ordered 300 Fisker Oceans in 2020. However, the car brand then went bankrupt, and the taxi company only managed to get one car delivered.

However, Lau Mikkelsen, marketing director at taxi and charging company Viggo, did not really want to deal with that fact.

– A new agreement was made for ten Fisker Ultras for Viggo, but for obvious reasons this was never realized, writes Lau Mikkelsen in a brief comment to Motor magazine.

The fact that the Danish company can no longer and must manage on its own has also triggered a number of obligations. Among other things, investments must be made in Denmark, according to Bolt.

We will invest long-term in Denmark – and create more competition, innovation, and we will offer sustainable mobility solutions to cities across the country, says Lars Speekenbrink, Regional General Manager for Northern Europe at Bolt.
