Huge car brand has been raving about horsepower since 2017

I would like to offer my deepest apology, says Toyota's former director and current board chairman Aiko Toyoda.

Toyota has once again been caught in a series of manipulating logs. The world's best-selling car brand has, it turns out, cheated on the scales in a number of cases since 2017.

Not with the number of cars sold, but with data on a number of engines in cars sold both in Europe, the Middle East and on the home market of Japan.

This concerns, among other things, the Land Cruiser, Hiace and Hilux, whose engines Toyota stated the wrong number of horsepower in.

And that is now causing Toyota's top management to issue an apology. This is written by the news agency AP .

– I would like to offer my deepest apologies for the series of wrongdoings at Hino Motors, Daihatsu Motor and Toyota Industries and for causing problems and worries for our customers.

– The companies did what they should never have done, says Toyota's board chairman Aiko Toyoda.

It is not the first time that Toyota has been caught in a scam. In December last year, Daihatsu, which Toyota owns, had to stop building cars due to fraud.

And back in 2022, Hino Motors, which builds smaller trucks, admitted to manipulating emissions for decades. Read more about it here .
