Audi recalls flammable electric cars in Denmark

The battery pack in the Audi e-tron is now not only a problem for Norwegian and Swedish owners. The importer in Denmark is now also recalling the cars.

The battery packs in the Audi e-tron are now a problem throughout the Nordic region. The importer in Denmark has notified Danish owners that their electric cars are being recalled.

Specifically, Audi in Denmark believes that the problem can be solved with a so-called over-the-air update. But it is not something that they will send out directly to the owners and their cars.

Back in February, Boosted reported that Audi risks being sued for billions of kroner due to the flammable batteries in the e-tron model.

A model that Audi has just discontinued after the closure of the brand's factory on the outskirts of Brussels, Belgium.

Just under a month ago, 70,000 e-tron owners had already been notified that they were not allowed to fully charge their electric cars because the cars were running around with problematic battery packs from LG.

Recalling flammable electric cars in several countries

However, things have also gone completely wrong with the German brand's plug-in hybrids. Here, owners have been told that they are not allowed to charge the cars at all, because Audi has found a solution to problems that also relate to the battery pack.

Boosted has heard from several Audi owners who are frustrated with Audi Denmark's handling of the problem. Several of the owners cannot get an answer as to when their cars can even be brought to the workshop.

Something that Audi otherwise writes out to them in the letter about the recall, which is sent out via the Danish Motor Agency.

However, some Boosted readers have reported that Audi has now given them a date for when they believe they will be able to solve the problem with the batteries in the hybrid cars.

Back in pure electric cars, the problem is so big that several cars have already gone up in smoke. In August, Audi tried to prevent more fires with a sticker. Read more about it here.
