Kevin Magnussen on the verge of exiting new Formula 1 contract

Kevin Magnussen's future at Haas seemed to be secured as late as December 2024. But now, according to Ekstra Bladet, the Dane is on his way out of Formula 1.

There was no seat in Formula 1 in 2025. But in December 2024, Haas was still not ready to let go of Kevin Magnussen.

Now, however, there are completely different tones surrounding the Dane in the Haas garage, as Ekstra Bladet writes this week.

According to the media outlet, Kevin Magnussen's connection and new contract with Haas is hanging by a very thin thread. In January, team principal Ayao Komatsu insisted that Magnussen was and is part of the team's plans.

– He will drive the TPC (test program and in simulator), the team manager told French Auto Hebdo.

But now Komatsu's view of Magnussen has apparently turned 180 degrees. A few weeks ago, the Dane admitted that he was not actively looking for a new seat in Formula 1.

The relationship with Haas and Formula 1 is hanging by a thread

– I'm not really after a new contract in Formula 1, it was revealed by K-Mag.

And in connection with the 12-hour race at the Sebring track in the USA, another admission was made. The 32-year-old Dane is happy to be where he is now. Namely with BMW in the WEC and IMSA series.

In any case, Magnussen has no plans to return to Formula 1. Not even though it has been written about in the media.

– There will always be rumors around.

And I think there's been some writing about that lately. But it's normal in this world.

"I'm very happy here. It's a golden era in sports cars, so I'm very happy," he told sports journalist Marshall Pruett.
