New Tesla to be the world's most fuel-efficient car

The Tesla Cybercab will be the world's most fuel-efficient car. At least if you ask the brand itself.

Tesla has a very clear ambition for the new, upcoming Cybercab. The car is to be the most fuel-efficient electric car ever.

The primary objective is to achieve a significant reduction in energy consumption compared to the current consumption of electric cars.

Constructing an electric car with a long range is relatively simple, if you are willing to equip it with a battery that is large enough.

This is seen in many larger and heavier SUVs. But those cars also have to contend with a weight that in many cases approaches 3 tons.

For the same reason, owners should be lucky if they get a range of more than 600 kilometers out of the battery between each charge.

Very small battery should be the key to fuel economy

The real challenge lies in creating an efficient electric car that can drive far on a much smaller battery.

Tesla CEOs Lars Moravy and Franz Von Holzhausen are now publicly saying that they are working to develop the self-driving Tesla Cybercab into the most efficient electric car on the market.

The car is intended to have a battery of less than 50 kWh and still achieve a range of around 480 kilometers.

With that calculation, the two-seater Cybercab will become the most fuel-efficient mass-produced electric car.

The expected consumption is 10 kWh per 100 kilometers, a figure that has not been achieved in previous series-produced electric cars.

In a video, Tesla presents the technologies that, according to the brand, will make Cybercab extremely energy-efficient.

Tesla will do this, among other things, by pursuing reduced wind resistance like never before. In fact, the Cybercab will be 8 percent more energy efficient than the Model 3.

In addition, Tesla believes it can save a lot of energy because the car has been made narrower and actually only has room for two passengers. Something that also saves quite a bit of weight. On paper, that is.

The self-driving Tesla hasn't hit the road yet. But Elon Musk has already announced where and when the first cars will hit the road. Read more about it here .
