Former stockbroker Jordan Belfort, known as "The Wolf of Wall Street," has thrown his support behind Elon Musk and Tesla.
In a social media post, Jordan Belfort reveals that he has purchased a Tesla for his son, Carter Belfort, as a symbolic act to show his support for Musk and his company.
Belfort writes in the post that he finds it "disgusting" how Elon Musk and Tesla have been the target of criticism.
"The man is nothing short of a national hero – he is trying to save the country at enormous personal cost," he writes.
He also encourages other Americans to follow his example and choose a Tesla when buying a new car. "Not only is it a great car, but both Elon and Tesla deserve the support of the United States," he adds in the post, which is accompanied by a picture of a Tesla key card and a greeting to Carter Belfort.

From Wall Street to Tesla fan
Jordan Belfort became world famous through his autobiography The Wolf of Wall Street , which was later made into a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
His life as a controversial stockbroker has made him a polarizing figure, but in recent years he has carved out a new career as a speaker and businessman.
His support for Musk comes at a time when Tesla and Musk himself are under pressure from both political and economic fronts.
Musk has been a prominent ally of Donald Trump and has been active in the administration's efforts to cut public spending. At the same time, Tesla faces challenges in the electric car market, where competition is intensifying.
Sonnen Carter Belfort follows in his father's footsteps
Carter Belfort, who can now call himself a Tesla owner, works as Vice President of Brand Development at his father's company.
He has previously been involved in marketing and branding and has a background in the entertainment and media industries.
Sonnike can now drive away in a new Tesla Model S, which her father has sponsored.
Whether more people will follow Belfort's call and buy a Tesla in solidarity with Musk, time will tell.
