Tesla's cars are no worse today than they were yesterday. But the brand is covering up serious flaws in the cars, says mechanic Fredrik Grufman.
Mechanic Fredrik Grufman wants the Swedish state to take Tesla to court over a serious defect in the brand's cars.
Specifically, the mechanic believes that Tesla is hiding a fault in the power steering on the Model S. A fault that causes the servo to disappear without warning.
"If Tesla chooses not to recall the cars, the authorities must show who is actually responsible," Grufman said.
Grufman, founder of Grufman Bil, has previously identified flaws in Tesla's suspension arms and now believes he has found another flaw.
He has submitted a formal request to the Swedish Transport Agency. He asks the authorities to examine the car model for defects in the power steering.
Grufman has specialized in Tesla's electric cars for several years and has observed a number of shortcomings in them. He is now calling on the Swedish authorities to investigate the carmaker further.
– The Danish Transport Agency has supervisory responsibility for our vehicles, and I notice that recalls are being carried out in both the USA and China for all kinds of safety deficiencies in vehicles, Grufman points out.
Grufman also criticizes the Swedish authorities for turning a blind eye. Despite his previous criticism of Tesla, no further investigations have been carried out. At least not by Tesla.
The Danish Transport Agency is conducting an investigation into Tesla's suspension arms, but it has not yet been completed.
"However, our authorities seem more or less helpless when it comes to taking responsibility for driver safety," he says.
This time, according to Grufman, it's the power steering that can suddenly fail out of the blue. On YouTube, he shows how the failure can occur on a Tesla Model S that has just over 370,000 kilometers on the clock.
The Swedish mechanic believes that the defect is present in the car that Tesla built between 2012 and 2015.
"Tesla Model S manufactured from 2012 to 09/16/2015 may lose power steering and in some cases the brakes without warning while driving.
"If this happens, steering and braking ability will be greatly reduced during the intersection, with the risk of accident, personal injury or death," Grufman writes to the authorities.
Grufman believes that Tesla is failing to take responsibility towards its customers. He therefore demands that the state now take the necessary steps and take the brand to court.
– Responsible car manufacturers are letting it get to the point where the Swedish Transport Administration has to intervene and impose sanctions.
– But when the responsibility capacity is exhausted, the Danish Transport Agency must step in and point out the problem with all its might, says Fredrik Grufman.
