In the US state of Ohio, people have had enough. At least of the police and their pursuit of drivers to meet speeding ticket quotas. So now this kind of thing needs to be banned.
In Ohio, there is currently a very central proposal on the table that the state's politicians must address. The proposal prohibits speed bump quotas.

– The primary mission of the police is to protect and serve our community. They cannot do that if they are expected to meet arbitrary quotas that do not reflect the real needs of society.
"We want our officers to be evaluated on the quality of their police work, not the number of speeding tickets they can write," said Bride Rose Sweeney, a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives.
Bans on speeding tickets are already a reality in 25 other US states. However, that is not the case here. In fact, the police have to go out to catch a certain number of drivers.
The money from the so-called ATK vans – automatic traffic control – is such a good deal that it is included in the Finance Act. As early as 2015, it was determined that the police must spend 100,000 hours in the photo vans per year.
In a report that the National Audit Office submitted to the Danish Parliament in February this year, it is clear that the photo vans alone spit out a total of 759 million kroner in the treasury during 2023.
