It's been delayed, but when it lands, the Lamborghini Lanzador, the brand's first electric car, will be a 2,000 horsepower beast.
The most powerful Lamborghini to date – an electric car – is still in development. But when it lands, the Lanzador will be a 2,000 horsepower beast.
According to Lamborghini, the car will be on the streets in 2029.
The car was supposed to be here this year, but as Boosted reported in December 2024, the brand's management doesn't believe the market is mature.
At least not yet. This will put Lamborghini a full year behind Ferrari, which already plans to unveil its first electric car this year.
However, the Lanzador will not be built on Lamborghini's own technology. Instead, the car will be based on the VW Group's upcoming SSP platform.
The director promises an electric car with 'up to 2,000 horsepower'
– There are opportunities for synergies in that. Lamborghini plans to build and develop on the platform that Porsche is responsible for.
– Parts for Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche and Bentley will be developed along this path, says Volkswagen Group director Oliver Blume.
In typical Lamborghini fashion, the Lanzador will have four-wheel drive. According to Oliver Blume, this will allow customers to buy cars with 'up to 2,000 horsepower'.
To humiliate its competitors, Lamborghini has decided to equip the Lanzador with a 980-volt architecture. This means that, in theory at least, it can charge faster than both the Lotus Evija and the Rimac Nevera.
However, Oliver Blume will not answer how fast the car will be from 0 to 100 km/h. Just as he will not answer whether Lanzador will be assembled from carbon fiber parts, aluminum or a mixture of both.
The director of the whole thing, however, would like to confirm that the car will be built at Lamborghini's factory in Sant'Agata.
– I promise you that it will be a very typical Lamborghini with a very emotional design that leaves a significant impression, says the director, according to Auto Express .
