Polestar wants Tesla customers who hate Elon Musk

Polestar's CEO recently went to the media to call Elon Musk's behavior unacceptable. Now the same Polestar boss wants to hijack Tesla's customers.

Polestar hopes to benefit from what director Michael Lohscheller describes as 'unacceptable' statements from Elon Musk.

Specifically, Michael Lohscheller does not believe that Musk can afford to interfere in politics. And certainly not in Germany, where Lohscheller himself comes from.

Nevertheless, Lohscheller, who himself has made a career at a car brand that threatens journalists, hopes to attract Tesla customers who are tired of Elon Musk.

In fact, the Polestar boss has directly asked his people to target dissatisfied Tesla customers.

– Many are very negative about it (Elon Musk's doings and the barn, ed.) right now, says Lohscheller
in an interview with Bloomberg .

However, it may be difficult for Polestar to even find Tesla customers who will directly exchange their Tesla for another electric car.

In fact, a new study from Germany shows that 1 in 5 drivers are considering buying a Tesla solely because of Elon Musk as a person.

On the other hand, Polestar needs all the help the brand can get. Especially financially. And it almost doesn't matter whether the money comes from angry Tesla owners or others. Because the Chinese brand has burned through unbelievably large sums.

For example, in the third quarter of 2024, Polestar lost 310 million euros on the bottom line. This corresponds to 2.3 billion Danish kroner. Yet the brand will now build cars in Europe. Read more about it here .

However, Michael Lohscheller expects that he can turn the tide this year, especially because the car brand he heads has several new models and a new design language on the way.

– It is clear that we have not assessed a number of fundamental factors correctly. If you do not have an active sales strategy in a difficult market, it is a big loss, says the boss.
