An angry driver repeatedly pretended to be the neighbor. It cost 519,000 kroner in parking fees. That is, until the whole thing was discovered and reported to the police.
An angry London motorist sent a staggering £50,000 worth of parking stalls to his neighbour, culminating in a years-long dispute over parking spaces that has cost more than £1 million in total.
The dispute began in 2015 when Ivan Soares and his wife terminated a parking agreement with their neighbors.
The Soares couple believed that the neighbors had behaved inconsiderately. Since then, the conflict has escalated, and the police have had to intervene several times.
This is what The Sun writes.
The neighbors claim that Ivan Soares has repeatedly parked too close to their car and deliberately blocked it. This behavior, they say, has reduced the value of their house by 7.5 million kroner. The house was purchased for half of that amount in 2006.
The case ended up in court in 2023. The judge fined Ivan Soares 60,000 pounds (approximately 519,000 kroner) for the "abusive and oppressive" behavior.
Soares appealed the verdict. But the case was recently reopened and ended with the verdict being upheld.
– Given the behavior – which can be classified as bullying – a potential buyer may feel concerned about similar incidents. Hence the decrease in value, the judgment states, among other things.
In addition to the fine, the parties have spent over 100,000 pounds (approximately 865,000 kroner) in legal fees. That bill now also ends up with the Soares couple.

This case illustrates how a simple neighbor dispute over parking can develop into an expensive and protracted conflict.
But it's actually not the first time that some neighbors have had a falling out over something involving cars. Here in Denmark, however, one of the most prominent cases ended in a long fight for the angry neighbors.
In March 2023, a number of landowners in Aarhus lost their lawsuit against the municipality and the closed racing event Classic Race Aarhus. The race, which went bankrupt in 2021, followed all the rules, according to the courts. As a result, the neighbors' complaints about noise were dismissed.
