Team boss reveals Kevin Magnussen's new role at Haas

Kevin Magnussen will continue to drive for Haas, although not in the same capacity as before. The agreement between the parties is somewhat different.

Kevin Magnussen is no longer behind the wheel of Haas' Formula 1 car, but the Dane is not leaving the team completely. Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has confirmed that Magnussen will continue with the American team in a new role.

Oliver Bearman has taken over Magnussen's place as driver for the 2025 season, but Haas wants to benefit from Magnussen's experience and knowledge. He will therefore be given a central role in the team's development program, where he will test older Haas models.

The purpose of Magnussen's test choirs is to evaluate the performance of new choirs and provide valuable feedback.

With seven seasons at Haas, Magnussen has invaluable knowledge of Haas and their way of building both the car and the team. Something a team manager cannot do without.

Magnussen's role will be to create continuity and act as a reference while the team works to improve results.

According to Ayao Komatsu, the young Briton Bearman has already impressed with his maturity behind the wheel. But you still can't do without experience in the backcountry, and that's where K-Mag can step in.

Haas has chosen to focus on young talent in 2025, but the team recognises the importance of having experienced talent to support its development. Magnussen's in-depth knowledge of the team makes him the ideal person to fill this role.

Although Kevin Magnussen is no longer driving in Formula 1, he is not done with motorsport at the highest level. He has secured a place with BMW in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), where he will compete in sports car racing.

However, Magnussen has not ruled out a comeback to Formula 1 in 2026, if the opportunity arises. The Danish racing driver has been linked with Cadillac, which will be part of the field from 2026.

Haas finished the 2024 season in seventh place in the constructors' championship. The team has ambitions to improve on that position in 2025 and battle with teams like Aston Martin and Alpine for fifth place.

According to RacingNews365, there is optimism at Haas. Improvements in tire handling and a new technical strategy have shown promising signs. Kevin Magnussen's contribution to the development work could prove crucial to the team's future success.
