Police seize Cybertruck – "It's illegal"

Although several drivers have already found ways around EU type approval rules, the Tesla Cybertruck is not welcome everywhere. On Thursday, British police seized one.

Manchester police have seized a Tesla Cybertruck because it is not approved for road use in England.

The Cybertruck was stopped by police on Thursday evening. The driver was a resident of England, but the car was registered and insured abroad. This is not allowed in England, and police therefore seized the car.

"The driver was a permanent resident of the UK, but the vehicle was registered and insured abroad, which is prohibited in the UK," Manchester Metropolitan Police wrote on social media .

In addition to the illegal registration, the Cybertruck also had red turn signals, which is also not allowed in England.

The police justify the seizure with security reasons.

– The Tesla Cybertruck is not road legal in the UK and does not have type approval.

– While this may seem trivial to some, there are real concerns about the safety of other road users or pedestrians if they were involved in an accident with a Cybertruck.

If the driver cannot prove that he owns the car and that it is insured, it will be scrapped or sold at auction.

There are several Cybertrucks driving around England with foreign license plates, and the police have announced that they may be seized.

The Cybertruck is not approved for road use in Europe as it does not meet safety requirements, especially in relation to pedestrian safety.

Despite this, some have managed to get Cybertrucks registered in EU countries such as the Czech Republic.

It is unknown whether these cars can be seized in other EU countries, but it is possible that they can find their way to Denmark.

There are no registered Tesla Cybertrucks in Denmark yet. But that could very well change. The EU is planning the biggest round of rule changes in the driving license area since 2006. This could make the car legal for many more people. Read more about it here .
