Fisker Ocean has been voted the worst car of the year

It's probably a good thing that Fisker Inc. is on the verge of bankruptcy. At least when you look at the title that the Ocean model has just received as the worst car of the year.

The Fisker Ocean has been named the worst car of the year by the American consumer organization Consumer Reports.

This title comes after a series of problems for the electric car that started already during the first tests in the fall of 2023.

At the time, Ocean was criticized for being unfinished and plagued by software problems. Technology reviewer Marques Brownlee described it as "the worst I've ever tested".

The problems continued when customers received their cars, with reports of faulty keys and screens freezing.

Fisker struggled to resolve the problems, but in early summer 2024 the company had to file for bankruptcy.

Now Consumer Reports has put the final nail in the coffin by naming the Ocean the worst car of the year.

"It's not bad to drive at all. But I feel sorry for all the people who bought the car, which is now worthless and cannot be repaired," says Jennifer Stockburger from Consumer Reports.

Juror Joe Veselak had no doubt that Ocean deserved the unflattering title.

"Everything just felt very lacking," he says of his experience with the car, where neither the radio nor the air conditioning worked.

Maddie McCarty, another juror, criticized the car's interior for feeling cheap. She was also unimpressed with the infotainment system, which she found difficult to use. "They promised a lot of updates that never came," she says.

The award as the worst car of the year marks a sad end for the Fisker Ocean, which started with great ambitions but ended as a failure.

Here in Denmark, Fisker has long since gone bankrupt. The brand closed down and left behind its rented headquarters in Taastrup. Boosted has previously published pictures from the site. Find that article and many other exciting stories on Boosted.dk – every day.
