Dutch media outlet Autoweek reports that Tesla is ready to significantly increase the price of Denmark's most popular car. Production began last week.
The facelifted Tesla Model Y, which has just been presented, may end up being a significant additional expense for Danish buyers.
The price has not yet been announced, but based on US prices, an increase of around 10 percent is expected. This means that the cheapest Model Y with rear-wheel drive could cost over 450,000 kroner.
For the increased price, buyers get access to a number of updates. The range has been extended to 568 km, and the car is now equipped with 20-inch wheels as standard.
The front-seat infotainment screen has been updated, and an 8-inch screen has been added for rear seat passengers.
This is reported by Dutch Autoweek .
Tesla has also worked to improve the driving experience. The suspension has been adjusted to provide more comfort, and the noise level in the cabin should be reduced.
A new "First Edition" variant will feature a number of unique touches, including a special welcome message projected onto the ground when the doors are opened. Cars with black interiors will be finished in a material described as "vegan suede."
It is not yet known whether the European Model Y will be offered with "Acceleration Boost," which will allow the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Without this feature, the Model Y still manages 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
It will be interesting to see if the updated Model Y can help turn around Tesla's sales trend. In 2024, the company experienced a decline in sales for the first time.

The new prices are expected to be announced within the coming weeks. Here at home, Tesla can note that it lost the title as Denmark's most popular car brand to Volkswagen in 2024. However, the Americans still deliver the most popular car – namely the Model Y.
Here in Denmark, the first Model Y, which Tesla still has in stock, costs from 330,000 kroner. In other markets, it is faster to get the car away. In France, the brand has reportedly already reduced the price to get rid of stock cars.
