Richard Hammond confirms: Grand Tour is back

In a new video on the YouTube channel Drivetribe, Richard Hammond talks about his final time with the Grand Tour and that the program is being revived.

It was already a very well-founded rumor at the beginning of April last year. But now the program's former host confirms that the Grand Tour is coming back.

This is confirmed by Richard Hammond, who, along with James May and Jeremy Clarkson, left the program the same year, now officially.

A new video has appeared on the YouTube channel Drivetribe.

Here Richard Hammond talks about his final days with the Grand Tour programs. Among other things, the now 55-year-old 'Hamster' has not realized that he will no longer be doing these kinds of car programs.

– Maybe I'll wake up in the summer and think: Hey! I need to do this (Grand Tour road trip programs, ed.), Hammond tells his Drivetribe colleague Mike Fernie.

Overall, the video is a look back at Richard Hammond's time as both Top Gear and Grand Tour host. Most of all, he's surprised that no one ever discovered that the trio of Hammond, May and Clarkson 'can't really do anything'.

– James (May, ed.) once had a theory that all it takes is one person to discover that we can't do something, and we're done.

– And I have to agree with him, says Hammond.

However, Hammond also confirmed one thing – namely that the streaming service Amazon Prime has not put the GT format in the grave. It is resurfacing.

– It needs to find its own feet. And that requires people to give it some time.

"What perhaps hasn't been so widely understood is that others shouldn't try to imitate us," said Hammond, referring to the collaboration with Clarkson and May that made the Top Gear trio famous.

The question is, should you watch? Right now, it's rumored that Amazon is so far along with the plans that a new production company has won the right to rethink the show with new hosts, new adventurers and above all – road trips!
