Volkswagen may have never built a nicer car than the Arteon Shooting Brake. But that's all over now. The brand confirms this on LinkedIn.
Production of the Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake is over. The last Arteon Shooting Brake has rolled off the assembly line, and the model is now out of Volkswagen's range.
The Arteon Shooting Brake was a station wagon version of the Arteon that was launched in 2017. The car was known for its elegant design and spacious interior.
Volkswagen announced the closure of production on LinkedIn , where spokesperson Andreas G. Schleith writes:
– Goodbye, Arteon.
Schleith, who himself drives an Arteon Shooting Brake, praises the car's qualities:
– As a proud owner of an Arteon Shooting Brake eHybrid, this decision hits particularly hard because this car is nothing short of amazing.
"Just look at it: the stunning design, the elegantly stretched body, the luxurious interior and the superb driving comfort. But the best part? The eHybrid powertrain with its two motors."
The decision to stop production of the Arteon Shooting Brake comes after declining sales. In Denmark, only 89 copies of the model were sold in 2023.
The Arteon Shooting Brake was produced in Osnabrück, while the sedan version of the Arteon was produced in Emden.
The sedan model went out of production about two years ago. A total of 190,000 Arteons have been produced.
Volkswagen has not officially announced a replacement for the Arteon Shooting Brake, but the electric ID.7 could be seen as a possible replacement for those who don't want a car with a combustion engine.
The shutdown of Arteon production marks the end of an era for Volkswagen. The Arteon was a car that appealed to a niche market of car enthusiasts who appreciated design and driving characteristics.
This is the second time in a short time that Volkswagen has announced a closure on LinkedIn. The brand recently said goodbye to its VR6 engine. Read more about it here .
With the exit of the Arteon Shooting Brake, Volkswagen no longer has any sedan models with a combustion engine in its range.
