The Lexus GX, which is identical to the new Toyota Land Cruiser under its sheet metal, melts in the sun. At least the paint does. In Denmark, the car costs from 1.7 million kroner.
Here in Denmark, Toyota charges from 1.7 million kroner for the Land Cruiser First Edition, which the Lexus GX is identical to. And then the metallic paint has to be added on top.
And the metallic paint is a problem. At least that's what the first GX owners say. Several of them say that the paint can't stand the sun.
According to GX owner Paul Yelton, who lives in Arizona, USA, he parked his Lexus in the same spot he always parks his cars. But when he returned to the Lexus, the side mirror cover was shrunken, deformed, and the paint was cracked.
A workshop has also concluded that Yelton is absolutely right. The paint and cover on the side mirror have simply melted due to an 'extreme heat source'. In other words, the sun.
This is what The Drive writes.
Another GX owner, who the media also mentions, is experiencing exactly the same problems. And in several places on the car. In addition to the side mirrors, the covers for the roof bars have also succumbed to the sun's rays. The same is true of the door moldings.
Lexus has yet to confirm or deny that there is a problem. In fact, the brand has not commented on the cars at all. However, owners with the melted roof bars say that the door handles on the cars get so hot that you can burn yourself on them.
Lexus GX owners aren't the only ones who have criticisms of the new Land Cruiser in a nice package. However, American Hagerty Media says that the GX is a much better car overall. Especially because Toyota's four-cylinder engine is a disgrace.
