Driver ordered gun holster as an accessory for new car

Bugatti has only recently added cup holders to its list of optional equipment, while Hennessey also offers a gun holster.

A motorist who ordered the exclusive Hennessey Venom F5 hypercar had a somewhat unusual optional extra: a gun holster in the glove compartment.

The request from the customer, which design director Nathan Malinick revealed in an interview with CarBuzz , is just one example of the personalization Hennessey offers its customers.

The Hennessey Venom F5 is a car that is already known for its enormous performance. With a 6.6-liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers, it produces 1,817 horsepower and almost 1,400 newton meters.

The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 500 km/h. The Venom F5 was launched four years ago with a seven-speed automated manual transmission.

In 2024, Hennessey released the Venom F5-M, a version with a manual transmission, onto the streets. There is also a roadster version of the car. That means 500 km/h without a roof!

The ability to customize the car with personal touches, such as a gun holster, is part of Hennessey's distinctive customer care.

It's unclear whether Hennessey will ultimately grant the customer's request for a gun holster, though the company's founder and CEO, John Hennessey, has previously said that customers appreciate the "Texas attitude" that characterizes the car brand.

Hennessey's focus on individualization and unique details helps to separate the Venom F5 from other hypercars on the market. But if you can't do that, the Americans also tune more ordinary street cars. Often so that they have 1,000 horsepower or more. Read about it here .

Speaking of options and extras, do you know how much it costs to paint a Bugatti? And how long does it take? Well, no. But still. The people at the factory in Molsheim spend at least 700 hours in a specially designed paint booth to paint one car. The special model Divo 'Ladybug' cost 1 million dollars, equivalent to 7.5 million kroner, just in paint.
