This is why Tesla's sales fell for the first time in 10 years

For the first time in more than 10 years, Tesla's total sales have fallen, according to the car brand's own figures. However, the decline is marginal.

Tesla has seen its global sales decline for the first time in more than a decade. The electric carmaker, which has long dominated the market, has released its production and delivery figures for 2024, and the figures show a decline in the number of cars delivered.

The decline is modest, just one percent, but it still marks a turning point for Tesla, which has experienced steady growth so far. The decline illustrates the challenges facing the automotive industry at the moment.

Despite the launch of the long-awaited Cybertruck, significant price cuts and attractive financing offers with zero percent interest, Tesla has not managed to maintain its positive sales trend.

Reuters writes.

However, it is worth noting that Tesla managed to increase the number of cars delivered in the last three quarters of 2024. Overall, the company delivered almost 1.8 million cars during the year.

Tesla faces intense competition from other automakers, especially in the Chinese market. Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD has seen significant growth in 2024, selling 1.76 million electric cars, an increase of twelve percent.

This development underscores the increasing competition in the electric car market and the challenges Tesla faces in the coming years.

It will be interesting to follow Tesla's strategy to address these challenges and regain its dominant position in the market.

Whether Tesla will be able to return to growth in 2025 is still far too early to say anything qualified. On the other hand, it is no secret that the automotive industry in general is having a hard time at the moment. Several bankruptcies are still threatening quite large companies. Among other things, due to billions in debt and huge inventories all around. Read more about it here .
