Flashed by photo van – handed the car over to the police himself

A 31-year-old man had the worst possible start to the year when he was looking after a photo van in Nykobing Falster on Wednesday morning at 9:10 am.

A 31-year-old speeding driver crashed into the police camera van's speed camera on Skovalleen in Nykobing Falster on Wednesday morning. He was speeded while speeding at least 102 kilometers per hour on a stretch of road where the speed limit is 50 kilometers per hour.

When the driver realized he was driving more than twice the speed limit, he decided to turn around and drive back to the photo van.

At the photo van, he was met by the police, who charged him with violating the traffic law. His electric car was seized for confiscation, as speeding falls under the category of reckless driving.

The 31-year-old can now expect to receive a significant fine and lose his driving license.

The incident took place at 9:10 a.m. on the first day of the year, and the 31-year-old was far from the only one who had problems with complying with the speed limit.

The police photo van was on Skovalleen from 7:49 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and during that time it registered 555 drivers.

Of the 555 drivers, 71 were speeding. Eight drivers had their driving licenses revoked, and the 31-year-old reckless driver lost his license.

The incident is described in the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police's crime report.

According to the daily report, the driver was well aware of the seriousness of the situation when he returned to the photo van.

It is unknown when the case against the 31-year-old will come to court. If he is convicted, he will certainly not be the only one who must surrender both his driver's license and his driving license to the state. This has happened to a 28-year-old man who is known from the social media TikTok. Read more about it here .
