Angry neighbors: "Electric car owners piss right next to charging stations"

Neighbors have had enough of electric car owners charging right next to the charging stations. According to the municipal council, this has been a problem for years.

Electric cars and their owners have come under fire in the Swedish town of Malung, where residents are fed up with electric car owners urinating at charging stations. The unwanted behavior has created frustration and anger among locals.

– It has been a problem for several years at the charging stations, says municipal council member Mikael Östling.

The problem often arises when tourists on their way to the mountains stop to charge their electric cars in Malung. Instead of using public toilets, some choose to urinate near the charging stations.

– For some strange reason, they pee all over the charging stations. Personally, I usually look for them in the woods when I'm out. But the tourists don't do that, says a local.

Complaints about the behavior of electric car owners have reached both politicians and the local press. Among others,
Falu Kuriren wrote about the problem.

– In a place where they usually go to urinate, there is only 300 meters to a public toilet. We have thought a lot about this problem.

And I understand everyone who is irritated, says Mikael Östling.

The municipality is considering establishing toilets at the charging stations. But is concerned about the costs. The question is where the bill for possibly setting up some toilets should be sent.

"If we set up public toilets, it's a cost. Then they have to be looked after, they need daily supervision, and that's going to cost money," says Östling.

This is not the first time that the sleazy behavior of electric car owners has sparked anger. Back in August, it was revealed how Tesla owners – also in Sweden – choose to empty their backs right near a Supercharger station. Read more about it here .
