Tesla demanded 20,000 kroner for a 200 kroner repair.

Tesla wanted 20,000 kroner to fix a dent in a Cybertruck. It turned out to cost just 200 kroner when the owner fixed the dent himself.

Tesla charged 20,000 kroner for a repair that ultimately only cost 200 kroner when a Tesla Cybertruck got a dent in the driver's door.

Tesla estimated that a new door would be needed. It would cost 3,000 dollars, equivalent to approximately 20,000 Danish kroner.

The door itself would cost $828, which is about $5,500. Tesla would then have to match the finish of the new door to the rest of the Cybertruck's body. And that's what, according to the automaker, costs both time and money.

The owner did not want to pay Tesla's price and instead tried to repair the dent himself with the help of a friend and a suction cup.

The first attempts failed when they tried to pull the dent out in the rain, which prevented the suction cup from sticking to the door.

After rolling the car inside, they heated the door with a gas heater and tried using glue sticks to pull out the dent. Glue sticks can be used to repair dents in softer materials like plastic. But they are not effective on the stainless steel that the Cybertruck is made of.

As a last resort, the friends tried the suction cup again, and this time it worked. The dent disappeared and the door emerged without any visible damage.

This shows that it is not always necessary to pay for expensive repairs. Smaller dents can often be repaired with a suction cup, which can be purchased at any auto parts store. Sometimes the price of 200 kroner is even high.

Tesla's repair offer, however, is not. Boosted has been able to tell us several times about how the car brand comes up with crazy estimates for damage work or battery replacements. Read more about it here .
