Family forced to flee burning electric car

A family was forced to flee when their electric Audi e-tron suddenly burst into flames in the middle of the street. The model has several problems.

A Swedish family was forced to flee when their electric car, an Audi e-tron, suddenly caught fire in front of a swimming pool in the city.

Eyewitnesses tell Carup.

I was walking on the sidewalk and saw a fairly new Audi turning onto Badmästaregatan. Suddenly something happened to the car. I saw smoke coming from underneath and the driver quickly pulled over.

Shortly afterwards, flames began to rise from the car's undercarriage. Fortunately, the emergency services arrived quickly, and no one was injured, as far as we know. But the car was beyond saving.

According to the Swedish media, the car burned for several hours. One witness said it got to the point where he thought the flames would never stop.

Even the Audi e-tron, or Q8 e-tron as it has since been renamed, has had several problems. So many, in fact, that the German car brand has recalled the model several times and asked owners not to charge it to more than 80 percent of the battery's capacity.

On the other hand, we are only a few months away from the model being discontinued altogether. Disappointing sales figures leave Audi unable to defend the assembly line in Belgium. However, it is not just the car that is disappearing. It is taking 3,000 jobs and an entire car factory with it. Read more about it here .
