Lotta's Volkswagen caught in scam – stalls are overflowing

The license plates on Lotta Sandström's Volkswagen Passat have been copied. Now she's being bombarded with tickets, and there's nothing she can do about it.

In Denmark, it is estimated that over 50,000 cars are driving around without the owners knowing that the cars have been cloned. However, it is not only cars that can be cloned. License plates can also be cloned.

And this scam is present in several countries. Swedish Lotta Sandström can attest to that. The license plates on her Volkswagen Passat have been cloned, without her being able to do anything to stop it.

She tells this to Swedish Radio P4 .

The stalls are pouring into her mailbox. And this even though the police found the car that was driving around with the cloned license plates two months ago.

Although the illegal license plates have now been confiscated by law enforcement, debt collection agencies are still threatening to take Lotta to court. And that scares her.

One of the companies that refuses to listen to Lotta Sandström and the police's explanations is Västia parkering AB in Gothenburg. They have hired a debt collection company that keeps sending reminders for unpaid parking fees that the Passat owner has nothing to do with.

– The company threatened to charge two fines of 850 and 600 kroner and has sent countless letters, despite all my clear evidence that I was the victim of a crime. I filed a police report about this on October 9, Lotta tells Mariestads-Tidningen.

Only now, after the police have written a report on the case and the story has also been in the media, has the parking company withdrawn their unjustified claim. However, the Passat owner doubts that she would have escaped the debt collection threats if she had not gone to the media.

The fact that media coverage can make stubborn companies play the piano completely differently is unfortunately not a new phenomenon. When Boosted got involved in Hans-Ole's case, a bill from Volkswagen for 70,000 kroner disappeared immediately. Read more about it here .
