Hundreds of drivers affected – now threat withdrawn

A parking company that is not good enough at their job must now withdraw parking fees. Parking fees that have affected hundreds of drivers.

The parking company Oparko is now withdrawing parking fees. The parking fees that a number of drivers who parked in the Frihedens Butikscenter parking garage in Hvidovre at the beginning of December would otherwise have to pay.

The reason is that Oparko acknowledges that their signage was not clear and conspicuous enough.

The problem arose when the underground parking garage switched to a new system with EasyPark and the OK payment app on December 1. The first two hours were free for users of the app.

However, they chose to leave the old and therefore invalid signage with 3 hours of free parking hanging in the parking garage.

According to Ekstra Bladet, this resulted in a number of parking fees for confused drivers who thought they were parking according to the applicable rules.

The outrage among the affected drivers is enormous. A Facebook group for drivers who have received a parking fee in this way has quickly gained over 500 members. What they have in common is that they have followed the misleading signage in the parking garage.

One of the affected drivers told Ekstra Bladet that he is frustrated by the situation. He often parks in the basement. Yet it took two weeks for the parking fee to land in the man's e-Box.

It was also there at first, when the media went into the matter, that NREP, which administers the parking area, will stand by the dishonest way of doing business.

The result? All parking fees between December 1 and 17 will be canceled. After this, the parking company believes that they have made the rules in the parking garage clear enough.

Unfortunately, it is not a rare phenomenon that parking companies are bad at their job. Boosted has been able to report on questionable parking fees on several occasions.

Back in May 2023, one such company was even caught handing out illegal parking fees. However, the management only regretted it when the media took up the matter. Read more about it here .
