Police are warning motorists of raids all week

These days the school patrols around the country can celebrate 75 years on the roads. But not all drivers have the same understanding of safety. So now the police are watching.

They are there just in case. Still, there can be a long way between respect for the school patrols.

Therefore, the police are now putting an increased focus on the country's school roads. It is simply about drivers and cyclists being reminded of their responsibility in traffic.

This is what the National Police writes in a press release .

At the same time, the inspections focus on the work of the school patrols and the campaign 'Den sureste uge' (The worst week).

– For us, it's about school patrols and children going to and from school feeling safe, says Christian Berthelsen, police assistant in the National Police's group communications.

In 2022, an investigation by the Council for Safe Traffic showed that one in four members of the school patrols has experienced being shouted at or scolded, while they were actually just ensuring safety.

For the police, it is just as important that motorists see them. That drivers know that their traffic is being monitored.

– It is a problem for the safety of school roads in general that some road users do not show consideration, flout the traffic law and at the same time show aggressive behavior towards the children who have voluntarily chosen to be school patrollers. And that is why we are starting checks in most police circles this week, says Christian Berthelsen.
