Now sales of these cars are falling in Denmark

Every fourth new van in Denmark runs on electricity in November. But the figures also show that sales have fallen compared to last year.

Vans in Denmark are increasingly electric, but sales of vans have fallen in November 2024 compared to the same month last year. Every fourth new van that was registered in November was short on electricity.

In November 2024, 2,421 new vans were registered , which is a decrease compared to November 2023, when 3,003 vans were registered.

Sales of vans have thus fallen by 19.4 per cent. On the other hand, the number of electric vans has more than doubled compared to November 2023.

Electric vans accounted for 25.2 percent of total van sales in November 2024. In total, 611 electric vans and 135 plug-in hybrids were sold, bringing the share of rechargeable vans up to 30.8 percent.

– It is terrific to see that van sales are becoming more and more electric. Development has been slower for vans than for passenger cars, but over the past few months, power has been added to many new electric vans.

– There has been momentum in van sales this year, and we have hopes that the high electric share this month also heralds a positive development in electric van sales, says Mads Rorvig, managing director. director of Mobility Denmark, in a press release .

Despite the progress for electric vans, overall sales of vans have fallen in the first 11 months of the year. From January to November 2024, 27,447 new vans were registered, which is a decrease of 6.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

Sales of trucks have also fallen. In November 2024, 357 trucks were registered, a decrease of 13.8 percent compared to November 2023. Now the car importers are calling for more support.

– Electric trucks have become more popular than they were just a year ago, but the development here has not yet really picked up speed. D

– political support is needed to get more green trucks on the roads and further limit the conversion of road transport," says Mads Rorvig, managing director of Mobility Denmark.
