New EU report points fingers at people in fossil cars

The EU will not achieve the union's climate ambitions as long as the internal combustion engine dominates the roads, a new internal report states.

Increasingly stricter requirements for fossil-fuel cars are not enough. Passenger cars in the EU emit the same amount of CO2 as 12 years ago.

This is the message in a new report from the Court of Auditors, which actually keeps an eye on the EU's economy. For the same reason, Pietro Russo, a member of the Court of Auditors, believes that it is not certain that the EU will achieve its own goals.

At least not when it comes to CO2 emissions from passenger cars.

– The EU's green revolution can only take place if the number of polluting vehicles is greatly reduced. But the challenge is enormous, says Pietro Russo.

The Court of Auditors states this on its website.

In the report, which Pietro Russo is one of the leading forces behind, it states, among other things, that the electric car is not just one means, but the most important means when it comes to reducing CO2.

At the same time, the people behind the report criticize what they believe is a sale of electric cars that is not going fast enough. Furthermore, the report criticizes hybrid cars for being a source of greater emissions than the car type gives the impression.

However, it is not certain that the electric car will have the roads to itself. For example, Porsche does not believe that the fossil fuel car will be banned. At least not as it looks now with the deadline in 2035. Read more about it here .
