The police must not send booths out to 10,000 motorists

10,000 motorists who have been flashed by photo cameras in Germany now escape the fine because the police cannot process the cases within the time limit.

10,000 drivers in Germany probably have cards too strong. But now the state is sending them an early Christmas present by not sending them anything anyway.

No speeding tickets come out of the many cases. The police in Germany cannot deal with the many speeding booths within the 3-month deadline.

This is written by Bild .

And if the police can't do that, the case is outdated. In this case, as many as 10,000 cases at once. The police can forget about collecting the stalls.

– The limitation period for prosecution of traffic offenses is normally three months. This period begins when the police register the offence, the German State Directorate explains to the newspaper.

In 2023, the central stall office in the state of Saxony employed an additional 6 people for case processing of stalls, so that the office is now up to 27 employees. But apparently that is not enough.

According to Bild, Saxony alone may have lost half a million euros in this way, corresponding to 3.8 million Danish kroner in ticket revenue.

On the other hand, the bodekassen in the state is not exactly doing badly. This year alone, the 27 employees at the ticket office have collected tickets for 8.38 million euros in connection with 183,219 traffic cases.

Here at home, the police have somewhat longer to lob. In fact, speed bumps only become obsolete after two years. There are also examples of motorists who only receive tickets up to 7 months after the offence. But there is not much to do. Other than paying.

However, some stalls are so automated and integrated into the system that they end up in the motorists' e-Box after just 48 hours. Read more about it here .
