8 out of 10 will have special choir card requirements introduced

It should be a requirement that you, as a driver, undergo and pass an eye test when your driving license is renewed. At least according to the drivers themselves.

To be able to get a choir card for category B in Denmark, you must initially have 50 percent vision in both eyes. The same rules apply in Sweden.

But here an investigation indicates that motorists want the rules to be tightened even more. When drivers have to renew their driver's license, 84 percent of Swedes – or more than 8 out of 10 – will make an eye test mandatory.

That's what Mestmotor writes.

– We therefore think that Sweden, like the majority of other countries in the EU, faces recurring vision checks when renewing driving licences, not least because it is requested by the drivers themselves, says Cecilia Blom Hesselgren, communications manager at the vision chain Bilprovningen.

However, Denmark is outside the system that the communications manager is talking about. Since 1 July 2017, drivers over the age of 75 have not had to pass a medical check in order to keep or renew their driver's license.

Since then, however, the decision, which was adopted by a majority in the Folketing, has been criticized from several quarters. Blue. the Medical Association will have reintroduced a health check for the oldest drivers. While Äldresagen believes that 'the rules work fine today'.

Back in Sweden, statistics based on the so-called Synsynet 2024 show that as many as 600,000 motorists in the country will not be able to get a driving license today. Their vision is simply too poor.
