Oil company has developed the world's fastest charging station

The Swiss mineral oil company Avia has developed a charging stand that, with a charging power of 600 kW, is the world's fastest of its kind.

The Swiss oil company Avia has developed a charging stand with a charging power of 600 kW, which makes it the world's fastest.

The charging stand is part of Avia Volt's strategy to establish a new business branch within charging infrastructure, battery storage and individual charging solutions, to compensate for the expected decline in fuel sales towards 2050.

This is written by the newspaper Blick .

The charging stand, which was presented at the Auto Zurich motor show, is currently primarily aimed at trucks. Electrification of freight transport faces challenges, as heavy batteries reduce the payload, increase transport costs and limit the range of trucks.

The solution is smaller batteries with more frequent charging, which requires efficient chargers to minimize downtime. With a charging power of 600 kW, a 44-tonne truck can be charged in 90 minutes, say the Swiss.

Avia Volt has already entered into an agreement with the logistics company Hugelshofer, which will be the first customer to use the new charging station technology.

The development within charging infrastructure has been significant in recent years. Previously, electric cars were limited to charging outputs of 50 kW.

But modern fast charging stations now deliver between 150 and 350 kW. Avia Volt's charging stand of 600 kW marks a significant step forward and shows the potential for fast and efficient charging of heavy vehicles.

When it comes to passenger cars, a company like Tesla has already said that from next year it will set up the first charging stations with an output of 500 kW. However, it benefits far from all the brand's cars. Read more about it here .

The fact that Avia's subsidiary, Avia Volt, has developed a new charging stand does not mean that there is speed all the way around. On the contrary, the industry is affected by both shutdowns and bankruptcies. Read more about it here .
