Nissan declares bankruptcy – may go bankrupt in 12 months

Nissan could go bankrupt in just 12 months. The car brand is in a crisis far beyond what anyone had imagined, says the director.

Nissan is warning that the brand faces possible closure within the next 12 to 14 months if major changes are not made.

The car brand is in such a serious crisis that time is now running out for the Japanese if they are to ensure survival, says the management.

According to the Financial Times, the Japanese car manufacturer is looking for a large investor who can help save the company.

The situation is critical and without a solution it is estimated that Nissan only has between 12 and 14 months left, as the company faces bankruptcy

– We have 12 or 14 months to survive, says a top manager.

Nissan is without a strong partner after Renault, a longtime key backer, reduced its stake in the company.

In order to find new opportunities, Nissan is trying to establish a collaboration with Honda in the field of electric cars. However, many in the automotive industry question whether two companies that are both facing challenges can become stronger together.

The coming months will be decisive for Nissan. The company plans to launch several new models, which management hopes can revive sales and strengthen its position in the market.

But in fact, the current situation is just a repeat of Nissan's history. In 1999, the Japanese were also close to bankruptcy. At that time, Renault stepped in with financial support. But a similar release is unlikely this time.

In order to raise additional capital, Nissan is also trying to sell its stake in Mitsubishi Motors. However, this plan has its own challenges, as Mitsubishi is not considered a particularly attractive player in the automotive industry. A Nissan spokesperson comments:

– This is going to be tough.

The crisis highlights that Nissan faces a number of complex challenges and the company's future depends on whether they can find a solution within the tight time frame.
