Lamborghini pulls out of Le Mans altogether

After just one season with the SC63 hypercar, Lamborghini is withdrawing from the European Le Mans series FIA World Endurance Championship.

Lamborghini has decided to withdraw its SC63 hypercar from the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2025.

The decision has been made, even though the brand only has one season in the championship. Lamborghini explains that changes in the sporting regulations are the reason for the withdrawal.

The rule change means that teams in the WEC's Hypercar class from next season must enter at least two cars in the competition. A requirement Lamborghini will not comply with. Instead, the brand will focus on the development of the SC63 in the IMSA SportsCar Championship in the United States.

The withdrawal from the WEC is not just limited to the Hypercar class. Lamborghini has also chosen to remove its LMGT3 cars from the 2025 season.

That's what Top Gear writes.

According to Lamborghini, this will allow the Squadra Corse division to complete development of its new GT3 model, the Temerario, which is expected to be announced next year.

In the season just concluded, Lamborghini had limited success. The factory-backed Iron Lynx team finished eighth out of nine entries in the Hypercar class of the WEC Manufacturer's Championship. The team scored 11 points over eight lobs.

However, Lamborghini managed to secure a place in the top 10 at this year's Le Mans race, where the SC63 finished tenth. Although it cannot be called any great sporting victory, it gave the car some exposure, the design of which is particularly noteworthy.

Lamborghini is not the only brand that has withdrawn from motorsport in recent years. Sister brand Volkswagen scrapped its entire motorsports program in 2020.
