Filled with errors – Volvo recalls brand new car

The Volvo EX90 should have been an electric prestige project, but has instead ended up as a bug-filled nightmare. Now the first cars are being recalled.

When Volvo flew journalists to the US to test drive the new EX90, it was riddled with bugs. Among other things, the cars had to be started by technicians with a computer.

And now the first recall awaits. But now the brand's own testers have found that the bolts with which Volvo fastens the rear seats in the car are not tightened well enough.

This has prompted Volvo in the US to submit a so-called voluntary recall to the US road safety authority, NHTSA.

To the authorities, Volvo tells that it concerns incorrectly installed seats in cars manufactured between June 25, 2024 and September 26, 2024. The defect was discovered when a test driver heard the seats rattle.

Volvo informs the authorities in the USA that it has lost the fault on the assembly line. But that they had to produce 117 cars with loose back seats.

All in all, the Volvo EX90 has had a more than unfortunate start to life as the top of the model range. Much of the technology that customers have paid for does not work at all in the cars when they are delivered.

In the US, retailers are already reporting customers regretting the purchase. In the past, Volvo has not wanted to deal with the problems with the car. But according to the media Carup, the EX90 is affected by so many errors that they could cost the car brand billions to correct.

Other, smaller cars in the model range are not doing well either. Boosted has, among other things, could tell that owners of the small EX30 block sensors in the cars to avoid errors. Read more about it here .

At home, Volvo is recalling 119 other cars with a, if possible, more serious fault than loose bolts. The brand has not been able to figure out how to properly assemble the device to which the pedals are attached. This means that the brake pedal can come loose.
