Mistakes on Fisker Ocean injure 1,900 people every year

Every year, 1,900 people are injured because a car accidentally rolls away. Now the error has hit Fisker Ocean.

Every year, 1,900 Americans are injured because a car starts rolling on its own. Now the error has hit Fisker Ocean.

The error means that the brand, which is currently being wound up following bankruptcy protection in the US, will have to recall 7,745 cars.

This is written by the US road safety authorities NHTSA.

Fisker Inc. have been aware of the problem for quite some time. So long, in fact, that back in March, when the brand sought bankruptcy protection, they tried to fix the mistake.

At first, Fisker believed that a software update of the car's control systems was enough. But it doesn't seem to have helped. And although the recall comes from the US authorities, it is not certain that all Fisker Ocean owners are aware of the problem.

For the same reason, the authorities encourage all owners to check their cars for any updates.

Boosted has detailed Fisker Inc.'s many problems. At the editorial office, we have also had contact with a Fisker owner who can nod and recognize the many problems the Ocean model is plagued with.

– Both with a yellow bar on the front screen at the same time as a piss-annoying sound. On a trip of 26 kilometres, I experienced the same alarm over 50 times.

That's what a frustrated Fisker Ocean owner, Jesper F., wrote to Boosted because his was reporting that the automatic nose brake was not working.

– At its worst, it happens every five seconds.

The cars from Fisker are not worth much these days either. In Norway, on the contrary, an Ocean owner is left with a bill of 71,000 kroner after he complained about an obviously defective car. Read more about that case here .
