Danish electric car owners make the same expensive mistake

This can cost Danish electric car owners dearly. Still, many of them make the same mistake – namely that the brake pedal be.

Many owners of electric cars in Denmark make the same mistake when they do not use the car's brakes often enough, but let the cars brake by themselves.

A quick look at the most popular car models in Denmark shows that electric cars and hybrids dominate the sales statistics.

In fact, the top five most popular cars are made up exclusively of electric cars in this country. These cars use energy regeneration to a large extent, where the electric motor's momentum is fed back into the battery for braking.

However, it can go hard in addition to the car's actual brakes. Neither discs nor brake pads are simply used npk.

– For those who drive in an electric or hybrid car, it is important to regularly brake properly to keep the physical brakes in good condition," says Sofie Tuvinger, sales manager for B2C at the workshop chain Vianor.

When the physical brakes are rarely activated, rust and general dirt can cause the brakes to seize. And if it happens first, the braking distance is reduced. In the most extreme cases, the brakes stop working.

To avoid these problems, electric car owners are recommended that they step on the brakes hard at least once a week, so that they 'wear' clean again. In this way, as an electric car owner, you also ensure that the brakes work when they are actually needed.

Vianor has collected data from Mobility Sweden, which is also available in Denmark, which shows that the majority of the most sold car models in Sweden in the period January to October 2024 are either electric cars or hybrids.
