At a time when competitors are busy undoing plans for electric cars, South Korean Kia refuses to reduce its ambitions and the number of cars.
Kia has no plans to reduce the brand's ambitions when it comes to electric cars. Not even if many of the competitors are busy doing just that.
The South Korean brand maintains its goal of selling 1.6 million electric cars per year in 2030. And that even though uncertainty characterizes the market right now.
Reuters writes that.
– We do not push volume into the market. Especially this year, the market is changing very quickly and there are many uncertainties, Kevin Ahn, president and director of Kia Asia Pacific, said at an event in Taipei, Taiwan, on Wednesday.
Kia has, however, acknowledged that the economic situation and political decisions may bring challenges along the way.

According to Ahn, this means that the company has no plans to use promotional prices or similar measures to stimulate sales. In chorus, Kia has a long-term strategy, where market adjustments can affect sales volume temporarily.
However, that announcement stands in stark contrast to the reality of the Danish importer, who has just dropped the price drastically. Read more about it here .
– But our long-term goal is 1.6 million electric cars by 2030. Along the way, there will be some challenges, some difficulties, and some volume will decrease due to market conditions and government policy, added Ahn.
By 2023, Kia sold around 160,000 electric cars. This corresponds to five percent of the company's total sales according to figures from InsideEVs.
The brand is now working to expand its production of electric cars in various markets. This year, among other things, production has started in China, and there are plans to produce small electric cars in Europe.
At the same time, the company's factory in Georgia, USA, will also become a central part of electric car production.
However, the future may bring additional challenges, including potential tariff barriers, especially as a result of changes in the US political landscape, with Donald Trump just re-elected as president.
– The election in the USA brings big changes and expectations. So it is too early to discuss such matters, Ahn stated.
