If BilBasen's analyst Jan Lang is to be believed, Tesla will not return to the top. The competition is too tough and people are turning their backs on Elon Musk.
Tesla has experienced a significant decline in the number of searches on Bilbasen, where the brand's former leading position has now been taken over by competitors such as Skoda Enyaq and Volkswagen ID.4.
These two models have achieved record high search numbers, while Tesla's models have fallen significantly in popularity over the past six months.
This is what Jan Lang, an industry analyst, tells Ekstra Bladet .
In September and October, the Skoda Enyaq and Volkswagen ID.4 were each searched over 200,000 times on the platform. Which is significantly higher than Tesla's recent peak of approximately 186,000 parishes back in January 2023.
– Just half a year ago, both Tesla Model Y and Model 3 were almost unsettled at the top of searches on Bilbasen, but right now I have to admit that I find it difficult to see them returning to that.

This development underlines how Tesla is increasingly struggling to maintain its previous position as competition in the electric car market grows.
Overall interest in EVs continues to rise on the platform, but Tesla has not kept up with this overall growth.
However, it is not only in the number of parishes that Tesla experiences challenges. According to Jan Lang, models such as Skoda Enyaq, Volkswagen ID.4 manage. Even the Fiat 500 is doing better on the sales charts. To Ekstra Bladet, the analyst explains that several factors can play a role in Tesla's decline.
One of the main reasons is that Tesla has a pricing strategy where the prices of the cars are adjusted frequently.
This creates uncertainty for some buyers, who instead choose cars from other brands where the pricing is more stable.
Jan Lang also points out that the presidential election in the USA and the resulting uncertainty may have had an influence on consumer choices.
With the increased competition and increasing interest in electric cars, it is clear that Tesla must find new strategies to regain ground on both search lists and sales lists. Competitors have not only caught up, but in many cases also overtaken the brand, which makes the future more unpredictable for the former market leader.
If you look at the number of new registrations in Denmark, however, there is still no car that does better than the Model Y. Although Volkswagen as a brand is doing slightly better.
